Question Fine Art Didital Portrait Photography.

Hi all, I've recently taken a new studio shop and want to focus on fine art portrait photography. I'm on the waitlist for a course with the amazing photographer Paulina Duczman. Can anyone here give me some pointers on how I begin to create that "look". I'm opening soon and need to start to learn this skill set.

    Regards Sam.

    Hi Sam,

Firstly I have very little experience in studio lighting, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I wasn't aware of Paulina Duczman, but after looking at her website, a number of her photos seem to have directional lighting, so I wonder if the "look" you are trying to achieve falls under the category of "Rembrandt lighting". Try googling that and see if it is heading in the right direction. The look does seem to be all about the the studio lighting set up, so just try searching for "creative studio lighting" and see what you can find.

There seems to be consistent type of back drop that you may consider investing in, and it is obvious she takes great care with her posing.

To my eye. there also seems to be some soft focus post processing in her photos as well as obvious vignetting.

Marko may be able to shed more light (pun not intended) on what you are trying to do.

Like I say there are probably others here that can help more then me, but hopefully this may give you something to consider
