No kidding. Not reliable at all. It was one of those el cheapo tamron's. I couldnt have spent more than $200 on it. It is a 70-300mm with a macro function. It is great under extremely specific conditions. That is about it. If those conditions are not right, then the lens stays off. The macro function is nice to have. It is more of a practice lens though. The only real images that have ever come from this were the images of the iguana's.
It is extremely weird. I pull the same shutter speed at f5.6 and f45 at at any given focal length. I need more light at f11-f25 than other aperture settings. Its a toy more than anything and could care less if I dropped it and it broke.
