Wow ... that's just ... like a sheet of ice! Cool.

I can't get it to convert to jpeg accurately. Either the shadows are too dark and pixilated or the whites are blown out. Here is what the darker areas should look like. I'm using "save as" in CS3 and the highest quality below 250 KB. I like to "use save" as so the meta data is preserved. Any tips?

Don't forget that when you're posting it on the internet, it's going to show in sRGB instead of AdobeRGB (if you're using that). So there might be a slight difference.

Although I agree with Mad Aussie, that last version you've posted looks great. Really nice!

Hmmmm - I'm not sure that's 100% accurate 42. When I save for web in Pshop there is a dialog box that asks me if i want to convert to sRGB. I NEVER click that box because when i do, my colours shift.

It's actually a "save for web and devices" button if I recall correctly. For some devices, AdobeRGB is acceptable.

But for the web it's all sRGB. Your browser simply ignores all color space information and renders it in sRGB. You can thank Microsoft an HP for that. The original article can be found here:

So you can have photoshop save your image for web in AdobeRGB. But it will only display in sRGB. So my advice is to do click that box, converting it to sRGB right away and adjust the colors accordingly, so you have control over how it'll show over the web...
