Took advantage of some more unexpected time off work today and ventured out onto a new place for me. Gorgeous day for a nice hike as well, love this time of year! This is one of two falls on this trail with this one being the namesake High Shoals. Pretty cool how it comes through a crevice instead of over the top like usual. Lots of wildlife out and about getting ready for winter including four black bears that decided to set up camp next to the trail for a good while, so I got comfortable as well since I had to go that way. Tried to get a photo of them but they were in some laurel and could not make them out. Amazing how they can just become invisible.
Surprisingly the water flow was pretty good, we have had pretty much no rain in months. Other falls are getting to be pretty well a trickle.
