My Zuiko 70 - 300 mm has crashed, something very wrong with the zoom motor and I bought it tomorrow 1 year ago. I can't find my receiptI called Future shop and they can't find when it was purchased. I phoned Olympus and told them I'm shipping it tomorrow and I'll find the freaking receipt. They tell me there's somewhat of a grace period. Though I've only had the lens for one day under a year, it has up until recently been pretty much the only lens I use. The E-3 is registering 15,000 shots fired and my old 510 probably sent another few thousand clicks at it
I'm sure hoping it's all going to work out

And when exactly are the "Cows" due home?
Got my fingers crossed for you too!![]()
Thanks...Future shops records indicate it was bought on may 6 2008 which put it 2 months beyond the warranty...Damn! So I'm going to have to pay the repair bill![]()
And when exactly are the "Cows" due home?
I think I'll try and guilt them into fixing it for freeI'll tell them I started with their E-500 three years ago, then upgraded to the E-510 picking up the 70-300 and two wireless flashes along the way. When it came time to get serious, I considered Nikon and Cannon, but in the end bought the E-3, two more flashes and a 50mm macro...So really, what's a couple of months out of warranty on a lens. We've been good to you, you could be good to us
...Might fly!

Is it possible that it's a firmware issue that might be corrected by installing/re-installing the current and most up to date firmware?

Thanks barefoot... Been there done that, no this is a physical issue. It feels like a tooth has broken off a gear inside the lens. It used to zoom like glass but now it chugs and sometimes sticks. If I turn it by hand, I can feel the missing tooth or whatever it is.
And when exactly are the "Cows" due home?
I had mine sent in and it felt the same way. I was later told something was in the lens and broke the tunring ring..something like that.
Good luck!

The update here is it was out of warranty so I had to pay $135.00 flat rate which will bring it up to factory specs. It should be home in the next few days. Not so bad, the lens is worth fixing in my book![]()
