Hello all, I am a total noobie to photography, and just got my first camera (35 mm SLR) its a minolta x370 for anyone who cares. Here is the problem. Today i took the lens off, and as i did so. This black plastic ring from inside the camera (just behind the lens) popped out. I dont know what it is. but im assuming its important because well... its there. Its shaped kind of like a horseshoe. can anyone tell me what this is, and if it is important?

Not familiar with that model, but if it is new return it for an exchange or refund.

I would use it and see if the part makes any difference. Many people have had success with that camera. If there is a problem take it to a repair man.
They are very fixable. I even had a Minolta fixed while I waited in Mexico despite a broken interior shutter part.
