Dust in lens?

I have the opportunity to buy an older lens, and the seller says that there is a little bit of dust in the lens, but that shouldn't effect pictures. I've seen that in other webpages, and allways been skeptical. Will a small amount of dust be harmful? Thanks, Kurt

Almost certainly not. Any lens that's a few years old will have some dust specs inside it. As long as it's just 'a little bit' of dust, it's nothing to worry about.
