I purchased a Amod AGL3080 from this seller. Today I tried it for the first time and I am very pleased with the results. After out shooting I downloaded the images and the GPS log (the GPS shows up as a drive). The information is in NEMA format so next step I used GPicSync to add the GPS information to my RAW files. It performed very smoothly after I figured out my camera's time was set wrong. I tested it with flickr and it easily placed the photo on the map with a click of the mouse.

I must say this is a very economical way of geotagging and image.

Cool. Looks pretty tidy. I have a logger on my phone, but only messed around with it once. There is a Lightroom Plug-in if you use light room.

I figure I will only bother geotagging when I do a road trip.

Geo tagging could certainly help identify photo files as your own should a dispute arise I would think.

I don't think it would provide much more proof than the original RAW file with your body's serial# embedded.

I presume it is only a matter of time till GPS is built in to all bodies. Then it will be much more accessible. I now have the technology and ability for geotagging, just no motive to go through the extra steps to do it for everyday shots.

It is cool thought the way Flickr and Picassa/Google use the geo info to show pics on a map. Pick a pupular location like say Sydney Harbour, and you get hundreds of images of slightly diff angles of the Opera House. I was looking at it the other day when I found out the boss has booked me on a junket, I mean conference about 1k from the Opera House.

I think it would also be handy to prove the shot was not taken on a game farm. That being said it is very easy to modify the data.

I like the idea for taking a shot of a location you want to return to; lets say when there is a storm coming in. It's like a digital notepad with a photo for the description. You know the place where you think that would be cool at sunrise, but forget which road you were down.
