New Camera ? Canon

hello, i was thinking about getting a new camera and was wantinig some help. i have the canon rebel xs and was intereseted in getting the canonn rebel t3i but im not sure if thats the one i should get or not.

this is my photography page on facebook and i was wondering if for my style if there is a certain camera i could be using ?

Hi Megan:
Looking over your Facebook pictures, I remembered you had posted some of them here. You have a good eye for composition and your pictures seem quite sharply focused and well exposed. I notice you tried various processing styles with some of your photos. You clearly know what you are doing with your camera and computer.
I was wondering if you feel you've outgrown the camera and/or the lens? Or is there some other reason you want a new camera? If you want to replace your camera with a new Canon model, then the T3i or 60D are the way to go. The 60D has an improved auto exposure system. Basically my advice would be to buy the best camera you can afford. There has been lots of debate over lenses, and I wonder if you would also appreciate a different lens than the one you have, more suited to your style? A faster, longer lens, for example, will let you capture wildlife much better.

I have the Canon Rebel XSi which is pretty much the same camera and there are times when I wish I had an upgrade as I find there are some things...not many, but some... that the camera just can't handle very well. Low light performance, for instance, isn't that great. It is times like that when I feel that the camera is not keeping up with my needs that I feel the need to upgrade. Is that what you are running into as well?

Canon has a really good forum too. I think, it is all about what your short/long term plans are on what you want to shoot. In my case, since I shoot a lot of weddings, my cameras and lenses need to be strong. I need cameras that can handle low light and shallow DOF.

For you, if you have no plans to do things like weddings or low light photography, then the next consideration is budget and the amount of time you use the camera. Is it a hobby where the camera sits for weeks at a time, or do you get a lot of use of your camera? I agree with mbrager about buying the best you can afford. The 7D is a wonderful camera that has great potential. The Mark 5DII is a lot of power packed into a black box. User friendly and very intuitive for both. Lenses. You get what you pay for. period. Photography can be what ever it is you want it to be. The main point is, where do you want to go with your photography? and then plan accordingly. :-)
