This image is VERY interesting. I like the reflections in the window, the lines of the window frames and the inquisitive expressions of the kids.

In terms of improving, some of the image could use a contrast boost and....as you will quickly learn...the eyes. At least of of the boys should have tack sharp eyes.

Great early image and good eye for composition.... the subject camera right has raccoon eyes (dark shadows) that would have benefited from some fill flash... and FWIW the image appears a little soft on my crappy laptop..

i think the image is a little soft, so i dont think its your pc travis.
but other than that, i think youve done a great job fante, especially for just recently starting out! great composition & lines, i will repeat. you didnt stage this, did you? talk about being in the right spot at the right time...
i'll let the 'mom' take over the 'photographer' in me fo a sec though, and mention that i just hope thats a main floor window... wouldnt want another eric clapton incident!

bahhaaa.... i thought the same... i even tried checking the exif to see if it was shot at 400mm or something... lol...

from the perspective of the shot it appears the angle is nominal.... suggesting 4 to 6 feet up.. just a guess...

I was kinda lucky when taking this, and yes, it's only a meter or so (yes, I use a sensible system ^^ ) above the ground.

I agree it need some contrast, as well as being a bit soft, which tend to happen with many of my pictures. Any way of preventing this (want my pictures to be more "crisp"?

crispness is blend of a steady hand, an appropriate shutter/aperture selection, accurate focus, and equipment

you need fast shutter speeds to freeze kids... 1/250 or higher...

what are you shooting with?

Using a Nikon D40x with a 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G. Going to buy a new lense soon.

ahhh.... that's plenty of camera.... in that case you missed the focus or you had your aperture set so high that your shutter couldn't fire fast enough...

if you shared your exif we could tell you more...
