I shot this last Sunday on a day out with my camera and a local model. I'm interested to hear what you think...

I am really trying to like this one but it's not really working for me. The lighting is ok. The area where the image was taken is interesting. One nic pic for me would be cutting off the models elbow. The model does not seem to be interested.

I would say it is a good image.

I agree with Scorpio. I also can not find a focal point. Her eyes arent really sharp at all.

I think the models look sort of turns you off the photo. Is it me or do the legs look reddish? Seems to distract my eyes to them because they seem slightly off skin tone of the rest of her. The location I really like.

IMO, the lighting between the upper half and the lower half are too much of a difference - the lower just a bit too pink for me.

The model definatley doesn't have the apperance of wanting the photo taken. May be what you wanted but I find it does alter the emotion of the photo.

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate you honesty. Yeah the colours could be a little over saturated, I used coloured gels on my 2 rear flashes for the blues. As for the sharpness, this photo lost alot of sharpness and detail when I downsized it to 200k.
As for the model, she's Finnish, they all look like that here. :-)

It is the expression and that you can ask her to change. Ask next time to try some other expression, seductive, happy, sad, angry, etc. I have worked with dour looking models and I had them make facial gestures, sometimes the sad look they would try would came off as contentment, so just get them to cycle though various facial expressions and pick one, sometimes what they think they are putting forth is not what you see and it works. Just an idea. Or in the times the model is new to the whole modeling world ask them to think of something that would evoke an emotion, sometimes they get it bang on, sometimes they are far off but the happy look comes off with a seductive smile or many other things happen. Your the photographer and you need to control not only the stance/pose but the facial expression also.
