The old house is just that, the magazine was taken at Ft. Worden.

I like shot 1 but it looks a bit soft.

I prefer shot 2. It could use some slight leveling as the shot slopes to the right though. Hope that helps - Marko

Yer I think Marko's on the money, Shot1 is a little soft and Shot two with a little bit of levelling is good.

I'm not to keen on shot one, I find the overgrown stuff at the front of the house a bit distracting, maybe pulling back a bit might work?

while I agree that shot 1 is soft you might be able to fix by applying some PP, not to make it sharper but to make the softness work. I'm thinking like a sepia colour or something like that.

I really like shot 2. Love the repeating pattern and the texture of the walls.

Shot 1, I think, has a lot of promise. It is too soft, for my liking and I think that being a couple feet higher would have not only got the camera above the brush, but also would have provided a more intimate perspective on the house, by being closer and focusing less on it's environment. The house itself would convey a sense of decay and impermanence. I assume that's what you're looking for. Are you able to redo it (if you want to)?

Shot 2 might benefit from having a person walking at the back. That might be a wholly different picture, though.

It's all been said so I am chiming in late.
Too many distractions in the first one. I like the second one but I would go back and reshoot. This location with the right lighting has a LOT of potential.

What's PP? Post-production?

I agree that shot 1 could use a little work. It could be cropped a little to remove distractions (top and maybe left side), or the colors could be sepia or black and white.

Shot 2 is really nice. It looks almost like a painting. The highlight on the wall to the right of the door is a bit too bright, it might look better if dodged a bit. Reducing distortion to make everything straight could help, but maybe you could go the other way with more distortion too.

Maybe a touch of fill flash and something to add interest to the foreground would work too. My 2 cents.
