A painter takes their vision and makes it a reality. A photographer takes reality and makes it their vision.
Really like the wide-angle shot, and I think the lines of the wires add a lot to the composition. Also the slight colour in the flame in the otherwise monochrome image is a nice touch. I'd say that you've got a pretty picture of a not-so-pretty subject.
Both very striking images, but that second one really tells a story to me. Sad though it is.
