In 1964 the Tasman bridge was opened to cross the Derwent River and bridge the gap to Rosny, Bridgewater and on to the Tasman Peninsula.
On Jan 5 in 1975 at 9.27pm the bulk ore carrier ship "Lake Illawarra" crashed into the bridge. 3 sections of the span fell, sinking the ship and killing 6 crew onboard. Before traffic could be stopped, 5 more people (in cars) drove off the bridge to their deaths also.
Can you imagine that? I can barely start to imagine the horror of suddenly driving into the blackness and realizing you were falling to your death.

Yeah, the middle one is my favourite from this set too. Great images all but the nod goes to the 2nd one.![]()
I agree: all are lovely but the middle is outstanding!

A painter takes their vision and makes it a reality. A photographer takes reality and makes it their vision.
Thanks WD, Iggy and Bambi. Looks like golden hues win here
That was one of those shots I didn't think would be much good at the time of taking it but a just small amount of curves treatment and it looked ok.
