So I sifted through the advice given here and on a variety of sites dealing with lens reviews. Came to the conclusion that the Sigma 17-70mm f2.8-4 would be the right one to purchase. So I did. I named the lens "Sir Hunt-A-Lot", since it seemed to hunt a long time before locking in ... at least in dubious light conditions. It also seemed to be somewhat loud, something I have not read in the reviews. So I wonder if there is something wrong with it right of the bat. Will have it checked out and then we shall see. Mind you, as long as the quality is there....
Here are a couple of shots, straight conversion from RAW to jpg, only thing I did was to size them down to 1200px wide. So not sharpening, nothing.
Here is #1, ISO 200, f11, 1/20th @ 17mm
Here is #2, ISO 200, f11, 1/50th @ 70mm
#3, ISO 200, f8, 1/500 @ 17mm, Circular polarizer used
#4, ISO 200, f8, 1/500 @17mm, Circular polarizer used .... any comments?
