I recently got a new ring light that I am absolutely loving.. the quality of light is just amazing.
Here's a video of a recent session I did with this cool little light.
A couple of the images from the shoot.

I personally do not like the eyes ... maybe one could have touched up the reflection of the ring light in the irises... cause they really look weird.

I think it's a cool effect and i have one of these contraptions myself. IMo the main distraction is when the light looks like it is the pupil (or just a bit too close) as in shot 1. Closer or farther back as in shots 2 and 3 respectively the effect is diminished.
I've seen crazy cool close-ups w/this light.

First with the video do you really need that annoying background music? I was going to watch the video out of curiosity but about 3 minutes in I could no longer take it the disco/club/electric music in the background is just too distracting for an informational/instructional video.
Secondly I think the lights make the model look cold and almost lifeless. It does appear that the lighting is very subjective as far as liking or disliking it goes but I am in the dislike camp. I think it might be fun to try one out but just that it is stationary and you need to shoot through the ring seems like it would be very limiting though. The light reflection on the iris is something I think should be avoided, just seems to look very odd.

I have never liked the effect of ring lights on eyes and could never understand how they made any headway in the marketplace. First off when I see them I know it's a ring light because there once again is that unnatural light source that is not produced anywhere else in nature. But hey, that's just me![]()
And when exactly are the "Cows" due home?
The light is nice but the catch light in the eyes..YUCK... I like the catch lights of a soft box much better.
