Anybody heading to Banff, a really neat place to shoot is in the Banff cemetery. Lots of really heat headstones and tons of history in there...James Brewter's (one of the original tour guide operators) mausoleum is in there as well as many of the original European mountain guides being buried up there. It is also all arranged according to ethnicity which I found rather interesting as well.
If you are looking for an off the beaten track place to shoot in Banff...I highly recommend heading there.![]()

Another tip I have...if you have the time..take highway 1A out from Calgary to Banff instead of the Trans Canada ...way better scenery to shoot and much more fun!![]()

Be very cautious on the 1A it has a reputation of being deadly. Too many people use it as a high-speed road and there are very few places you can safely stop without being on the road. A great drive but use caution if you intend to stop for photos. Specially once the Ghost Dam is clear for the boaters.

Good point Greg...we stopped when it was safe usually where there was a road that turned off...not alot of shoulder on the highway but/if when you can find a place safe to pull over, it is worth it.
Motorcyclists also like to whip though there in the summer.
