And yes, the heavy processing and wacky colours are intentional!*![]()
Using a 16-45mm and an A28mm 2.8 on occasion too.
Temperature -16ºC, but we managed... barely. We found an old abandoned mill to use as a backdrop.

Hi Josh,
This is an interesting mix of photos. My favourites are the middle photo from set 1, which has a dark moody feel to it.
From set 2, I like the first shot and the last shot. The last shot makes the model look quite pretty. For portraits where the goal is to make the model look pretty, I would have had her lower her head just a bit. That would have made her roundish face just a bit slimmer, which most women subjects appreciate.
Most importantly, was the model happy with the results?
Marko
I see exposure problems and the resultant loss of detail in all of them.

Thanks for the comments.
I was incorporating a processing technique I've been studying used by Anton Corbijn where he flattens out the midtones and compresses the contrast in the shadows to a strong degree. I took more liberty in this method with the highlights also by compressing that end of the contrast spectrum too. The odd colouring was something Anton Corbijn does too but in a very different way than these... where he tends to favour more cooler colours (but warm toned BW) I am partial to the warmer tones, at least for these shots.
Marko, she was absolutely ecstatic over these photos and thanked me many times. It's a pleasure to do photos for musicians as they tend to like the extreme looks and are always happy to see the limits pushed.
That's my favorite too... even if it is too close to an Anton Corbijn rip off!Originally Posted by marko

Learning through emulation is a good thing to do and helps us find our own style.
I have never seen these before. Sadly, Joshua does not come on the board any more. I really like these and I believe that they were intentionally processed to look they way they do.
Here is another from Joshua:
Black and White - Ontario
I would have to say one of the best photos on this board for sure.
Also from Joshua:
Hydro Tower
Just some real interesting stuff, I think. One of my favorite photographers on this board.
