Simple Marko.
Go to Google.com then click on the 'maps' link up in the top left corner.
Then you can see another link 'My Maps' so click that.
Now click 'Create New Map' and some fields open for you to name the map etc.
I chose Unlisted so it was private for only those invited from this forum.
Once you have created the map simply click the Edit button if the extra 4 Icons (including the blue upside down teardrop) aren't visible.
You drag that teardrop to your location (I suggest that no one actually sticks it right on their house for privacy reasons of course) or thereabouts. Then you can add some info into the little box this creates.
I simply put 'Steve 25 Hansome as a Greek God' in thereOk ... I didn't ... I put 'Steve, Male, 43 Born NZ' (New Zealand) and then added a photo.
Suggest the photo is no bigger than about 300 pixels on it's longest length.
Then to invite people you simply click ther 'COllaborate' button and add peoples email addresses and they'll get the invite to join. They simply follow the instructions above from where I said 'Drag the Teardrop ..."
Now you May need to make the map editable by all as TT is having trouble using my test version but JJ didnot so we'll see. I didn't select this option as I didn't want anyone screwing with the map but perhaps as it's invite only it will be safe.
very cool idea!!
tt ... when you look at the page if you do not see 4 icons at the top left of the map next to the circular toggle icon thingy ma-jig then you see if you can see 'EDIT' written next to 'Collaborate'. If so ... try clicking the Edit to see if those icons appear.
I think we finally got tt in to the test map but I had to select 'anyone can edit' option which really does leave the map open to people being malicious. As it's only invite only (doesn't show in any lists or searches) then only PH.ca members could get in. But now any of them could change the title or description etc.
We'll have to look at other options of maps IF any exist that do this or simply trust the members to not touch the stuff they shouldn't.
If anyone else wants to try to use the test map go here ... http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?oe=UT...d43eebc23f3e26
You do need a Google ID and be logged in I think.
I finally got my push pin set.thanks MA - hope I was helpful to you too with the screen shot.
Added myself!
