Hi all,
Something I've been noticing I've been doing lately is instead of taking the time to comment on someone's photo they've posted, Ive been more interested in replying to the off topic conversations that have resulted within the same thread.
I realize that if someone takes the time and effort to post a photo that it's just as disheartening to see several comments most of which do not have one comment about the photograph posted and many of which are about the off topic subject that has taken on a life of it's own within the thread. Other times I've posted comments that have very little to do with the photo/image itself and more about me and my goings on.
I want you all to know am going to really try to make more of an effort to post at least one comment regarding the actual photo within the thread before I jump into the off topic conversation going on within the same thread or post something that has nothing to do with my thoughts about the image itself.....I think it's only fair to all the great members on here and will help continue to keep ph.ca the happy and helpful place it is.
for reading.

A painter takes their vision and makes it a reality. A photographer takes reality and makes it their vision.
I've managed a couple of very big forums, and I can safely say this is very normal. I'm doing it myself, first checking things like offtopic and then the show forums. It's a good thing, cause it means the forum is developing into a community and you're interested in the people first, and then their work. So, don't feel bad, we've got a really nice group of people here, so it's natural it draws your attention.![]()
Listen, three eyes, don't you try to outweird me, I get stranger things than you free with my breakfast cereal.
hm. I guess there's more going on here than I thought.

I've mentioned this before, and related to my own forums I run where the rule is that the person who has started the thread must have received the feedback they were seeking before off topic conversation is allowed. I also let that thread author stipulate if they want the topic strictly adherred to.
Having said that, I also haven't noticed anyone being unreasonable with their off topic conversations here.
Sometimes I think it's nice that a photo sparks a conversation due to things people saw or thoughts the photo induced in them.
I agree and my intent was not to offend or upset anyone.
I can only do what is best for me and I've noticed that a more than a few times I've jumped into an off topic conversation within a thread before actually commenting on the image in thread....I guess for me (and only IMO) that doesn't seem right and I guess I want to try to change that so I figured this is a good place to start. I'm not judging anyone or trying to point fingers in anybody's direction. I will say though bonus if it sparks anyone think and maybe to do the same then great...if not then that is okay also.
Further I was not suggesting anyone's comments or behavior was inappropriate at all and I apologize if that was what was interpreted from my ramble...again, just trying to be the good, decent, respectable person I am (and like everyone on here) and do what I think is right.
Thanks for the feedback.
