The other problem is my computer. It is really starting to slooooooowwwwwwww down. But yes, having a second backup camera on hand is going to make a HUGE difference I think. It will probably give me the upper hand and allow me to be pretty flexible as well.

Photography is more than just taking a picture and freezing the action, or leaving the shutter open. It is more than orchestrating the image with the stroke of a brush. Its the realization and explanation that reality is an isolated experience in which only a specific individual can comprehend during any given time period. - Your Truly!

I notice from the presets link in one of your threads that you use Lightroom. I love lightroom for flagging and rejecting photos. Actually I use Lightroom for nearly all my pp. My Lightroom has slowed quite a lot. I wonder if having a separate catalogue for events will speed things up? It is something I am going to try some time.

Not sure why you think I might be using lightroom. I have Photoshop CS2 but no lightroom. Would love to try it out sometime though.

You are correct you don't use Lightroom.

My mistake, it was Raiven's post.

You can always download a fully functional 30day demo. Non destructive editing is fantastic and saves on disk space.

30 day demos are nice. But thats how they get you sucked in. You like something so much, you have to buy it. Kind of like fishing. Have to be smarter than the rest not to eat the bait. Im sure it is good software. I am content with PS for now. Have other things my money needs to be geared towards now anyways.

Congrats and WTG. Just something I have not heard you mention but it may not matter to you but you realize you will not own any of the images and they will own the copyright to those images since they are paying you to take them, would be like working for a newspaper as a staff photographer, unless your contract stipulates something different they own the rights to those photos. Not sure if it matters but just something you might want consider asking for equal copyright on the images so you can use them to further your career.

I have thought of that AL. Im glad you gave me a seond affirmation of it as well. I was kind of hoping you would chime in on this. It seems like that would be standard practice but maybe its not. I haven't really taken any pictures for them yet, but will mention it at the right opportunity. This is a you scratch my back, Ill scratch yours kind of deal. Hopefully I dont get burned, but these are pretty good guys from the time Ive had to learn them. It will probably just get used for their marketing and what not. Can't really see why they would argue against me using them if I needed to. Could be wrong about that though. Not that I would care. Im like abstract and art photography myself, but this would be a fun way to pay the bills, and meet attractive, single, and loaded female golfers...haha

If they are half decent if they plan to use mostly in house just ask in an email and that way you have something that protects you should they ever change their mind. You actually would have to ask the owner or a partner of whom ever owns it or someone who is in the position to legally give you that authority, someone like a manager usually doesn't. If you know the owner/s just send an email and be very polite and just ask if you can use them, don't go into any explanation, just ask if you are allowed to use them. And its better if you get it in an email or writing. Verbal permission is pretty useless. I imagine they should say yes, but do a shoot or two first then ask. Get into their good graces first. Seems like they are a decent lot, so I don't imagine them saying no, but don't be surprised if they say no, I doubt they will but you never know.
