I'm not a chess player and yet this clip amazes me. How does a ****e chess player come out ahead playing nine of the best? The formula is the key

Too bad you can't see this man! In a nutshell...This guy who doesn't play chess well pits himself against nine people who play very well including world Grandmasters and assorted chess big shots. He plays all nine simultaneously and though he doesn't beat then all, his percentage of wins against the group makes him the best. He does this by pairing them off in his mind which gives him four pairs and one single player. With the pairs he's chosen ( the players no nothing about the pairing system) he mirrors the other member of the pairs move so they are actually playing themselves with him just mirroring the other pair members moves. In the end he is even win loss with the other members. At this point he plays the ninth player one on one and wins giving him the group win. Not the greatest explanation but hopefully you can get the gist of it.
