Default The Punk Rocker and the Flapper

A couple shots from Halloween last year that I have always loved:

This is my youngest, she is actually dressed as an angel. I love her eyes in this shot

This is my oldest. The lighting is horrible

Yes, you are right, very expressive eyes for sure. Great model you have there. However, seems to me the images are a bit on the soft side, unless you intended them to be there ... I'd try and sharpen them up somewhat ...

I'm a sub-novice photographer, I don't even have Photoshop and the software that came with my camera is crap. I would like to some how leave the picture the way it is and just sharpen the eyes.

GIMP is a free powerful program that's fab.
Here's a tutorial on how to locally sharpen with Gimp. 3.13.*Blur/Sharpen

As a rule though, during shooting, focus on the eyes till they are tack sharp. If autofocus won't get u there, go manual.
(Note though: Sharpen is not magic, IF the eyes were "too" out of focus during exposure, the sharpening will not work well....in fact it will look bad)

    Hope that helps - Marko
