Exposure in photography — photography podcast #6

Pho­tog­ra­phy pod­cast #6 is ready for down­load­ing or sub­scrib­ing. In this pod­cast we talk about basic expo­sure in pho­tog­ra­phy. We go through tech­niques involv­ing using a gray card and we talk about reflec­tive, inci­dent and spot metering.

    Not so sure I agree with you Dmitri…Learning meter­ing is cru­cial in my opin­ion. Plus when the light­ing is mixed with dif­fer­ent types of light, it’s MUCH harder to guess. You can also be sure that pros rarely or never guess. They need to KNOW, even if they’ve recre­ated the scene many many times. Plus again, when set­ting up stu­dio lights you need to (or should) bal­ance them and you can’t do this accu­rately with­out meter­ing. I would never rec­om­mend guess­work over metering.

    I’ve never used gray cards. I know their benefit,but I still think it’s pos­si­ble to avoid them,if you really know what you are doing. Same as light meter for stu­dio work. Good to have them,but it’s not that hard to just “guess”
