I offer up 4 easy tips on how to make this process easier so that your shots have more punch at the end. These photographs were mostly taken over a period of 1 week. In the podcast I discuss the differences between when the subject is aware and unaware of the photographer’s presence.</p>

Take a deep breath if you feel shy about this, people are flattered and tend to agree over 90% of the time when I simply ask them for permission.</p></div>

One thing I forgot to mention during the podcast concerns model releases. If you never plan to sell the image, in Canada and the U.S. at least, you probably (I’m not a lawyer so this advice is worth what you paid for it as opposed to 2oo bucks an hour) don’t need one. If you plan to sell the images you shoot, then it makes good sense to bring a release form with you.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This was a straight shot of a little girl feeding the pigeons on an overcast day. I actually shot this before I recorded my last podcast. Talk about a twofer (two for one) <img src='https://www.photography.ca/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> . No flash was used and about 5 minutes of post-processing was done on this one. I really like the intense concentration on the kid’s face. She’s on a mission. I also like the duck in the background looking at what’s goin’ on. I think the duck is envious of all those sweet cheerios! As always, when photographing children it’s best to get a parent’s permission, which I did. If you wanted to sell a shot like this, you’d need a model release.</p>
