re: slow down.Oh, such a good point. If I take the time I usually end up with less quantity and more quality. Secondly, I got equipment that is old, almost obsolete. But it still works and I get a chance to learn all its functions.I stopped totally for over three weeks (sick) and I had renewed energy and ideas such as what you suggest when i got back out there.
Bonjour Marko,
I will go in french.
Merci you can répondre en anglais. Svp continuer votre bon travailDominique

So, we spent May in Paris. Didn't want to leave the 5th Fl of Musee D'Orsay. Think Met has better Manets, though. Overwhelmed by L'Orangerie. Photo show was overlooked by many. Photo museum had a Belgian photographer who printed big. Lots to see.

My wife and I go to museums, all kinds. Last year, we went to the Hermitage. Need a month or a year for that place. I always look at the painted images like they were photographs. Sculpture challenges me the most, because of its three dimensional quality.

But my favorite things to look at are portraits. And, you cannot do better, right now, than the Met and the John Singer Sargent show.

I only have so many shots left.

I just listened to this podcast today and believe that is is VERY 'True'.

I thought I'd add that if folks want to dig into 'pictorial' composition a little more there is a great free book by Henry Rankin Poore... guess what the title is. :) Amazon has a copy but what they provide has no pictures. Manybooks.net does not have the book

Project Gutenburg does have the book with pictures that are a touch fuzzy, but adequate... this link will get you there. https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/26638

Of course, this is about 'pictorial' composition. It has taken me quite a while to realize that photography is about much more that simply 'pictorial'... with that said, 'pictorial' is pretty much where my heart is. :)

Thanks for your great podcasts.

I was looking to see if i'm doing what's been done. While camera Motion can have a blending/mixing of colours, I'm concerned after reading http://www.photography.ca/fine-art-photographers/orton/ that colors found in RAW that were not noticeable, looking in the camera/looking through the camera were redistributed in the image, yet applied to dramatic affect.-Ernie Moore Jr.

I'm trying to discern which of the selections were camera motion. When I select them the color might seem off, or not valid/true in that position--trying to see the meat from the gristle. If there's Orton effect done by Orton himself I suppose it is merely his style. But when you get your style from a Photo Shop (including layering)-one has left photography and entered Gaphic Art.-Ernie Moore Jr.

As people working with what's available, much success to the Ortons with their Graphic Arts work(s). I hope to someday see the non-composite layer, Composite Intentional Camera Motion Imagery untouched(-up) nor what's there reapplied; to see how the photoimages compared to my handling of camera motion.-Ernie Moore Jr.

The lack of pompusness was nice. Mr. Orton seems a person who's found joy in the experiences-what was old can be looked at again to be new and reappreciated.-Ernie Moore Jr.

I listen to podcasts while on a treadmill or bike. Thanks for the diversion.

Felt energized after this podcast. Just finished Group f.64 by Mary Alinder. Have read the two other books she wrote about Ansel. He was not all that kind or patient. Check out the less filtered version of the Half Dome ome shot on pages 56-58. These people helped each other all the time. Ansel was a severe critic.

Hi guys!
I do think that finding style is directly related to how much you want to do it! When you have that desire you will follow it as far as you are driven to. There are millions of people with expensive cameras who would not spend the time or energy to explore their potential because it is not important to them. For me, the first thing to be is an explorer!

I haven't seen this book yet, but I did see a selection of prints from this project when Adams had an exhibit at Calgary's Glenbow Museum earlier this year. The exhibit combined some of Adams' photos of various celebrities, with a set of the soldier portraits from Wounded. Each grouping was in its own room, located side-by-side. I don't know but can only presume that it was intentional by Adams and/or the Glenbow curator to contrast the subjects in this way; I found it quite the commentary. The portraits from Wounded had a lot of impact in particular... they illustrate a real dimension of the sacrifice these men have made, and with which they will continue to live. I also took note that several of the celebrities pictured in the companion selection had committed suicide in the past couple of years... there was commentary in that contrast as well.

When I first began using the mega stop ND filters, I started with the 77mm b+w as it was a fit for my Tamrom 10-24mm and Nikkor 16-35mm. What I discovered was that with the use of step down rings, I could greatly reduce vingnetting when using the filter on lens with smaller filter threads.(i.e. 77mm filter on 67mm threaded lens) That led me to purchase the larger 82mm version and more step down rings for use with most of my lenses. Let's me get at the sweet spot of the filter. Not a perfect solution, but....
