What do people use for notetaking, if anything?
As I'm learning, I'll go out and take say a 100 or so shots and when I get back to the computer sometimes I forget what I was trying to achive with a shot.
Do you folks use pen/paper, audio recorder, memory etc. while out and about?
I've used the 'take a shot of your hand at the start and end of a sequence' trick. Any more tips n'tricks?
Thanks

I use a small flip pad with rings at the top that easily fits in a shirt pocket but EXIF provides a lot of info. All I add is what may not be obvious such as raining, location, filter, tweaking of settings, etc., but even that I can often recognize from the photo alone.

I've got a small, digital voice recorder that I use. Especially handy for remembering which frames were supposed to go in which pano!

The friend who got me into photography told me about this EXIF program like this one: http://regex.info/exif.cgi
You 'browse' the original picture you took either using an uploaded file from a url or one from your hard drive, and when you view the image, it'll pull up all the stats used.
There's a "simple" and "detailed" report it compiles for you and as far as i can see, it gives you all the details.
(I could be wrong, i'm still new, so some of the stats/numbers are gibberish to my eyes)
Hope that helps!
*Edit*
The image should be the original if you want to obtain an accurate report :)

If I remember I take a notebook.
Normally I try to remember.
Failing that I will write on anything including paper, food wrappers, passing children, whatever!

I usually just recall when I look at a photo what it was I was trying to achieve. I also keep a pen and a small pad of paper in my camera backpack with me incase I have an idea I want to recall for a later shoot.

Some people have mp3 players that record their voices.
Others can use their cellphones to input information.
I like to go old school and etch the info into my skin with a stray branch. :p

I don`t note take in the field much. I pretty much know what my goal is for each shoot.
I spend more time studying the exif in processing to see if the objective had been met.
