This is my first post here, though I've been lurking for a while. I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Thanks.

Hi Blake,

I've pulled your EXIF data from your image and it is listed below for others to see.

Camera: Nikon D700
Exposure: 1/8000 sec
Aperture: f/2.2
Focal Length: 50 mm
ISO Speed: 160
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Exposure Program: Manual
Maximum Lens Aperture: 1/1
Metering Mode: Pattern
Color Space: sRGB
Exposure Mode: Manual
White Balance: Manual
Digital Zoom Ratio: 1/1
Focal Length In 35mm Film: 50
Coded Character Set: %G
Image Width: 1413 pixels
Image Height: 942 pixels

From a colour perspective I like the overall appearance. From a composition perspective it is not clear what your main subject is. I know it is really the statue :), but the building and windows compete for the viewers eyes.

So what to do?

It looks like a bright sunny day, so increasing you aperture to get a shallower depth of field is not possible (you've already reduced your shutter speed to 1/8000s and your already down to f/2.2 on a 50mm prime on a full-frame sensor - you're in a corner). If all you have handy is your 50mm and you can't get any closer to your subject then the only thing would be to frame this shot in portrait mode and do some cropping in post process. That way you can reduce some of the distracting background.

Hope this helps.
