I've spent the summer working as a field assistant studying rattlesnakes in South Western Saskatchewan. I took this photo a few days ago and I thought I'd share it. :)

Share - the picture I hope, not the rattler.
Nice focus on the fang and rattler

Haha, nope I'd like to see them stay in the wild. :)

Also, that's the snakes tongue; not the fang. :)

Very cool shot. I think it's cool the way you almost can't see his head as it blends in with the rest of his body.

Looks like it's almost ready to strike. Not sure I'd want to be this close!

Wow love to see shots i don't see in the city lol. I like the focus as well. I think a bit of extra PP play could make this sing louder tho.

Thanks for the comments. :) This is the original photo, I haven't really got into Photoshop but perhaps its time. I did shoot the photo with a 300mm lense, I was more then safe.

We are studying rattlesnake habitat and have several snakes embedded with radio transmitters. We see these snakes almost everyday and they are very shy animals. They always try to go into a burrow rather then stay above ground and be defensive. They rarely even rattle. The only reason I was even able to get the defensive pose in the photo was we just finished processing the snake (taking a blood sample, embedding a small microchip in the snake, etc.) and she was just released.
