I've spent a lot of time running around British Columbia in search of wolves. I have found some wild ones but they can be very hard to spot. These wolves below are captive at a place about 10 minutes from my home in Vancouver. I've visited them a number of times in the last 8 months or so since I discovered they were there. My brother told me about them after I spent 10 days and drove 2200 kilometers in search of the wild ones. I do prefer to photograph wild ones but when I feel the need for a quick and easy wolf fix, these ones are great. They were bred for the film industry and lived in kennels until a local ski hill decided to give them 2 acres to live in. Enough of the back story and onto the photos. These were taken a few days ago on my last visit.

They were having a bit of a scrap. It looked a bit serious but it was probably just normal wolf behavior.

They are beautiful animals and I love going to visit them. Plus it's good practice for the wild ones. Thanks for looking!

Very nice set! I also like the light on #39.
These guys are tough to get in the wild. I have seen a big black guy around here several times but never close enough to get a good shot.

Very cool set indeed. Great timing and focus in these. Wolf #39 gets my nod as the best ... just love that composition and light.

I can see how wolf 39 could be a fave with that lighting, but that line shadow across nose, and under right eye really got to me, so that last one in B&W would have to be my pick. Just love the detail it brings out, and the sharpness in the eyes is amazing. All beautiful captures in their own right though, and very nice work Dan.

I have a weak stomach for the natural food chain - hopefully these fellas are just at play :-D --- that said, this is a WONDERFUL series! the softer shots (3 and 5) are stunningly beautiful .... shot 6 - total WOW factor for me! Bravo !!!

Thank you for all of the nice comments. Sorry for the late reply, I've been without the internet for a while. Working in remote places has it drawbacks.
