Hi everyone!
I"m lucky enough to be on a self-guided night time photography trip for the next 30 days.
For anyone who may be interested,,,,going to London, Paris, Amsterdam, Prague, Vienna for 1 day, then Florence, Venice and Rome.

Some tips for fellow photography travelers....
If you want to do some editing using actual photoshop while away....DO NOT bring a tablet, mini computer. Bring your real laptop and suffer with the weight.
I bought the microsoft surface....and it's garbage for editing. A photo that takes me 5 minutes to edit at home, takes 15 minutes. Lots of differences in how things work and major frustrations just doing basics.

Ok now onto some pix - I will post all photographs in this one thread so I can find it easily in a few years from now...

Can I ask if the images look decent on your computers? Thanks!

First set is from London - 13 degrees warmer in Montreal than London - gusts of 50-70 km winds all day yesterday and today - not what I was expecting..and gonna stop complaining...lol.

They all look great but Big Ben is leaning a lot (not sure if intentional).

After looking at them again, #1 maybe a little too yellow for me (could be my monitor).

They look good to me.

I hear what AT is saying about #1 but I think the colour is accurate based on the colour in left of frame. London does have very orange sodium street lamps.

appreciate the comments and I agree with you - even though im running photoshop.... it's friggen bugggy on this brand new 'machine' (surface 3)
editing is a pain in the arse. 5 minutes to edit....and 10 minutes debugging the edit.....and it's not the ram..... it's the tablet's OS and photoshop fighting it out. display resolution keeps changing on me...zoom in at 100 percent brings you to 200 per cent 70 % of the time.
i'll deal with the weight next time.....lap top for photoshop.... tablet's are for surfing only.....

Personally I have given up all but the most basic processing when traveling - even on a laptop. Anyway you should be out shooting or otherwise enjoying your holiday not stuck in front of a computer. Leave the edits for when you get home.

Midnight Tango in Paris

Really liking your "Midnight Tango in Paris", awesome image.

The shot straight up the tower is nice but it appears a little flat.

Marko
05-09-2015, 06:39 PM
preciate that A.T - it was pure magic, I had already shot the tower for a few hours (day, night) and I was getting ready to head back when i saw a group of people all dancing tangos - apparently it was all hush hush because they did not have permission...so they meet illegally and tango throughout paris....apparently paris is way big on rules, permits, rights... apparently I wasn't even allowed to shoot the tower, i ( and the 3-5 thousands others) needed written permission -...iggy told me that. the lights are copyrighted apparently... (insert vomiting icon here)
as for my flat edit ....in my defense...lol.....these are all fast edits that will likely get reworked when I get back..

Paris, France - Yesterday was a busy day -5 full hours of photography. I got to shoot the pyramid at the Louvre. I've been waiting 3 years to shoot it. I'm lucky enough that this was my second visit to the Louvre - I'd forgotten just how immense it is because my last visit was over 20 years ago....and I didn't even walk inside this time.
Just the outside leaves you speechless, breathless -dumbfounded. No hype can do it justice. You must go. The Louvre is over 10x as large as Montreal's Olympic Stadium...something like 650,000 square feet. It's the most visited museum in the world.

The light blue streaks that start near mid frame and goes to the bottom seals the deal for me. Seems everything horizontal is supported by it. Just my off way of viewing things. Nice work.

What a trip! My favs are the boat in the rain (colour) with the person positioned so nicely with the umbrella, the bubbles shots are cool too and, the London Eye movement shot because it's so striking.

I like the Charles Bridge ghosts. They seem to fit the skyline.

Great moment caught with the Roman.

Really like Charles bridge too. (although I have to ask... were you coming home at 4:25 or up early?)

I continuously keep going back to the Prague skyline. I like the shot and the more I look at it the more I like it. On first glance there seemed to be something missing that I couldn't put my finger on. I think it may just be that here it is viewed on a white background, whereas I think viewed on a dark background it would really sing.

Appreciate the comments - I have 4 similar ICM images of the prague skyline, I might post one more - It took me a couple of relooks to decide to post this one but it grew on me as well.

As for 4:25, woke up early to find bunches of people that never went to sleep :0

Here's one more ICM of the prague skyline

To my eye, a great series of images all good, many excellent. I especially like the "moody ones" - won't try to pick any out as they are not numbered and I may err. Also like the B&W's and the "straight up" Eiffel Tower shot - a difficult one to get right, and you did. If I can find it I'll post an Eiffel tower shot I took years ago straight down - they sort of compliment each other. Good shooting Marko.

Very cool set... sorry I hadn't been following along the whole time and have only now had the opportunity to go through the whole thread... one that stood out for me as very cool was Charles Bridge - Prague, CZ - 4:25 AM May 23, 2015. Loved that one.

There are a bunch of others that were awesome as well. Thanks for sharing!

Great work Marko, and thanks for taking us along o this great adventure.
My favs in order would be , #1- Rainy Day In Venice-colour. - Absolutely love this for the freshness of it. The rain with the washed colours coming through. It looks wet, yes, but has a warm look to it.
#2- God Light-Bridge To St. Paul - The title, and the mood here just work great together. Love it.
#3 - Amsterdam Night Train - The movement in this one, with the train almost coming right out of the frame at the viewer really makes an impression here. Love it.
#4 - London Eye - This lit up Ferris wheel, along with your great signature technique of movement works great here. Eye candy for sure.

I'm finally ready to start processing images and deciding which ones will make it into a final collection of images.
Here's 3 more I'm considering (Eiffel Tower and the London Eye)- and I'll be posting more in this thread. Of course feel free to comment. Thx!
