I appreciate all of the comments on the first photo I posted.

The first photo was one of my abstract works. It was not meant to have a specific focal point. It was not pollution on water, but simply still water on a bog. My perspective is that the subject matter is irrelevant when the applied vision allows the photo to become greater than the sum of its parts.

Mad Aussie had asked if I have more photos. And yes, i have lots.

Here is a more 'traditional' landscape type. Thoughts?

The copyright notice is simply placed to protect the photo since it is now in cyberspace. The book format prints would not have such a notice.

nice warm colors, interesting shapes and textures--I think the whole thing could be a bit brighter, and perhaps slightly sharper

This actually looks like a difficult shot. Dark, almost stormy skies, and a bright afternoon(?) sun shedding a strong yellow light onto the bushes there.

I think I would have liked to see more sky in this one and the bushes pushed a bit further back. For me, landscapes don't tend to let something dominate the photo quite as much as these bushes. If you know what I mean. Obviously a landscape of a lake would but then we'd be looking at reflections, or waves, boats whatever as well.

I think you have a unique vision of what you want in your head and if you can also find a way to correlate that with some sort of 'wow' factor you are going to get there.

I very much like the warmer colours in this shot, but overall I find the shot confused. The lighting here as MA pointed out is difficult, but for me it's about focal point. I find the sky and mountains conflict (as opposed to complimenting) with foreground tree and shadow. I too would have pulled back as per MA's suggestion.

Hope that helps - Marko
