A Weasels Welcome
I found this little guy living in the rocks on my way down a steep rocky embankment to the river below .... I would never have seen him If I had not been so cautiously serveying my surrounding to find a safe route down .... Sometimes it just pays to slow down . :)
It was a fairly dark day .... and sluggish shudder speeds and Weasels are not a good combination ..... I got a few .... Oops! there's no weasel in the pic .... Boy! are they fast!! .... The little guy was kind enough to hold still and pose for a few shots .
A Weasels Welcome ..........

cute. although he does look a little p.o'd at you!

I love it. and weasels. I didn't see any this year, but did see a few mink and yeah, they are lightning fast. No pics though. Funny that this one has molted already. Seems early, but what do I know about weasel timetables?

What a cutie! An albino. Weasels aren't normally white are they?
-
Regular weasels shed their fur each fall and spring...white for winter, brown for summer - like ptarmigan. Skunks and mink don't change color and neither do fishers or wolverines I'm pretty sure, although they are all weasels. I'm not sure about ferrets...maybe some change color.

There you go. Learn something new every day. :)

Nice capture and quick thinking to snap this picture.
-
Very nice. You were luck to have it hang around long enough to get the picture.
-
He looks like he's telling you this is his hidey spot, and to get your own!
-
That's cute! It looks just like a ferret. Nice shot!
-
Excellent habitat shot of a hard to capture, flighty little creature. Very nicely captured Donna.
-
The way how it is looking at you is too cute!

Thank you all for the comments! :)
I too thought it was a little early for the white winter coat ....... But it is now snowing .... so I guess this little fellow knew what he was doing :)

Cool! He looks out of place in that environment being so white. Love the pose you've caught though.
