white squirrels
my husbands small home town of Exeter Ontario is known for having the worlds only non-albino white squirrels, believed to be the result of a genetic mutation in the early 20th century. i got these 2 snapsots of them when we visited in the summer of 07.

Actually - in Long Grove, IA, there was a clan of the white squirrels. This was quite a long time ago, I am not sure if any are still there. I am so glad you caught this as an image! They are awesome to see!

We had a white squirrel visiting us last year - he was cute. I'll dig out some pics shortly...

im sure the pack of whities in long grove are the same as the guy ben has pictured - albino. all the ones in exeter are actually born white, not as a fluke like albino-ism... you can tell by their dark eyes. albinos all have the red eyes...
nice capture though ben - love how he is standing up & the grass is crossed so modestly in front of his 'privates' ;)

Whoops - missed the non - albino part -:o
Since I never saw them upclose, I can't comment on the eye color - either way - too cool for words! :)
Ben - What a cutie pie!
