I like this first shot between the two threads the most. You did well in a tough focusing situation.
What lens are you shooting with here Casil?
That first shot has a really pastel feel about it.
I like the duck in the snow! That's a sight I'll never see around here!! Poor Daffy's feets must be frozen!!
I like the first one too. Is that a chicadee? The colors of the duck are great! Then there is the 'proper' magpie. They are gorgeous birds actually.
The first little guy is a white breasted nuthatch. I used my 70-300mm lens with a tripod that I just set up quietly in the woods hoping something would land nearby. That's also how I caught the chickadee on the leaves in the second post..part 2. I like our magpies also Raiven...they are quite beautiful. Their feathers are blue MA.
Thanks everyone.
Just looked at your magpie again and I can see the blue and green in the feathers now. Very cool! Our Magpies are black and white ... no other colour hues in their feathers.
Hey what's with the mesh around the tree in the Magpie shot? Is it to stop Deer eating the bark or something?
Calgary Parks department puts mesh around the tree bases to keep the beavers from damaging the trees and eating them. It's more humane than exterminating them and the beavers leave those trees alone. There's quite a few stumps around that and other parks (some very large) that beavers have taken down making it a hazzard for pedestrians. I'll find examples and post them so you could see the kind of damage they do.
That duck is super cute! Do you take picture from a lower angle, by any chance?
Hey Gem, nice to see you back...Glad exams are almost(?)/over!
I got down as close as I could to Mr. Mallard without actually crouching on the snow and ice. I didn't want to scare him away so I stayed as close as made him feel comfortable.
Yeah, I see what you mean. That picture is already pretty close up! Too cute :)
Eh, I just finished my midterms. Class ends in three weeks and finals start in four! Had time to spare today, so I thought I'd drop in :D I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised with the pics posted!
