Unknown bird

Today I did this "catch" in my own garden. Only I don't know it's name - I am still searching for it:

It looks like a female Purple Finch. If you can get the Nattional Geographic's Field Guide to North American Birds it's on page 440. We have them in Calgary. They are usually the first song birds to arrive in the spring.
