Wow - that's just PERFECT. A great bird potrait!:thumbup::highfive:
Stunning shot!!
Nice capture! Even if it is a seagull. :)
Fantastic!:thumbup::thumbup: I have to ask though. Is the white area as the result of bokeh or did you shop that in. It seems to highlight the portrait so well it seems like it must have been added in afterwards.
Another good one Maw:highfive:
"Maybe if I sit perfectly still for Mr. cameraman he'll throw me a SARDINE" :)
Wonderful shot! HMMM...thinks I should find you and have some lessons!!!! :P
Interesting, how did you crush the blacks? Did you have to put a mask around the bird, or was it just a matter of tweaking tone curves for the entire picture?
Also, the picture is an excellent capture. Nice job isolating the subject and getting the catchlight in the bird's eye. :D
I crushed the blacks using < image/adjustments/selective color> in PS. The only blacks on the bird that came down was the outside of the eye and a bit on its beak. To me the eye and beak levels seemed acceptable so I framed it and called it a day :) I generally never mess with curves unless a situation is critical and more often than not at that point...I've blown the shot.
Here's the original out of cam shot for comparison, you can see the background wis pretty dark to begin with
