Very cute! Nice capture. Don't think I've ever seen owlets before. Thanks for sharing.
Meet the parents...well one of them anyway...the other was higher up and more obscured by branches. :)

I so wish I was better at bird photography.
I know where they are so I might go back and give it another go. I thought I heard them the other morning hooting in the same area and low and behold..there they were today!
Used a tripod but I still don't think they are sharp enough. :wall-an:
One more:
They just blend in so well with the trees.

The other parent was sleeping a bit higher up and well hidden in the trees and leaves:

Nice..I am so wanting to get some Owl shots. Getting ready to pin Maxis ears back glue a beak on her face and sit her in a tree:D
:) M!
Very cool shots Casil!! I had an 'awwwwwwwwww cute' moment :)
They're adorable. Nice find.
I'm not sure your photos are as fuzzy as you think. The owlets look pretty sharp, and it seems like the portions around the face of the adults are, too. Maybe your eye is being fooled by the barring pattern of the bodies' feathers. Either way, please, get more pictures. It'd be interesting to see a season's worth.
great captures Casil
Thanks for the nice words....:)
I know where they are so I think I will start this thread on watching them grow. Not too far from my place and really easy to capture. :)
OK please please show me where they are:)
Those are terrific. I wonder how many opportunities like this I've walked right by. So glad you didn't.
Thanks a bunch!
Funny, this morning on my way to school I went by there and one of the little owlet chicks was out of the den/nest and sitting way out on one of the branches staring at me. Now I think there might be 3 of them but I can't quite tell if 3 or 2.
LoL they seem to really like pigeons as there are lots of pigeon feathers in the area.
Unfortunately, still dark and no camera....they sure are cute though. :)
Very interesting pictures. Don't owls eat mice and gophers? And pigeons? Oh, that is what you meant. Exciting project. If you hang around them long enough, they might imprint on you (mistake you for their mother) and follow you home. LOL.
Mike
Great shots Casil and nice find on the nest. Please do keep us informed on their growth.
