Well, the Rowan Gorilla III has been repaired and it they're getting ready to ship it out. Thought others might like to see this one.

That's just nuts!...Cool shot Iggy!
Wow! Big move. It would be neat to watch that one heading out.
now that does not look safe at all!! but it's a great shot.
Thanks, everyone. It was quite a sight. I'm glad I caught this yesterday... it must have sailed out last night or very early this morning as it's now gone. Probably trying to get out of the way of the Nor'easter that's hitting us today.
whoa! that SO looks like it has tipping potential. Nice catch!
Awesome photo, Iggy!
Thanks, Marko and JAS.
There's this blog that I follow that has some details on this and other ships coming and going from Halifax Harbour for anyone who's into that sort of thing: Shipfax - shipping news from Halifax
Iggy, what is it? Is it part of an oil platform. And is the Gorilla III the ship or the structure.
Whatever it is, sure looks unstale. Nice catch.
Sorry, it definitely needs some explanation. The Rowan Gorilla III is the oil rig. The other day the tug boats towed it out to a shallow spot in the harbour. They raised the platform and the Triumph (the red ship) sailed underneath it and then they lowered the rig onto the ship to allow it to be transported down to the Gulf of Mexico.
To give you an idea of scale I've included a crop from the full size image. The big tires you see on the tug boat (bottom, right of the full size above) are about 8 to 10 feet across. They are old tractor tires.
