I like the street but think the photo would be much improved with someone(s) in a period costume was present about half way up the walk on the right side. Preferably moving away. The consistency of lights allow for a long depth to the shot and adds to the old feeling represented by the cobblestones. A good stage for some future visits.
I really like the mood, the lighting with the golden colour. Also like the texture with the cobblestone road.
To nit-pick. I like the leading lines with the road and lights but they just lead to darkness. That may have been what you intended for the mood. Like Andrew, I think I would have liked some subject maybe up in the darkness.
I like it very much! For me, the lanterns are a bit too overexposed. I want to look at the cobblestones and the wall but my eyes keep going to the lanterns.
I think it is a fantastic shot. I like it just the way it is. Maybe the lights are a bit too bright, but so what? Love the way the cobble stone leads to the back of the image, and the faint wall at the end. Really dig the mood here, and the feeling of "midnight". Being that, why should there be anyone on the street ('bring out your dead' does not work here, methinks). Has a little bit of "the rain just stopped" feeling to it as well. Marko, this is a great shot, bravo!
Ha, Ha, Matt. First thought in my head was "Python" also, when thinking of a person being in the scene. Agree also in that this shot needs no "being" within it.
Thanks so much for the comments- much appreciated.
Really think this photo is well done, very dramatic.
If you look closely, you can can see hints of things in that dark area at the back of the image (windows of an old run down building?). So for me, the lines up the cobblestones do lead you somewhere, not just to darkness. You just don't quite know what's there, so it's wonderfully eerie and dramatic! :D
