Chinook Arc
Some information on the piece from the City of Calgary website: The artwork is an interactive, illuminated sculpture that emits a soft, internal glow. The concept reflects our impressions of Beltline as a well defined, confident and vibrant community. The shape draws inspiration from the historic Beltline Streetcar loop that once encircled the neighbourhood, as well as the Chinook arch phenomenon that periodically blankets the sky. These two identifying boundaries inspired the crisp edges and rounded curves seen in the work.
These were shot beginning around 8 o'clock until after sunset, around 9:30. Jackie and I shot both handheld and on tripods. She had her 24-70 f2.8 and I used my 24-105 f4 with flash most of the time.

First and last one especially.

Cool set, Mike! The skin on the first one looks so translucent. Lots of people came by and interacted with the piece so it is definitely art, that is more than just a pretty picture. It remains to be seen how it and the neighbourhood well meld. There is a lot of construction in the area and there is certainly a trend towards a move to the inner city.

I love those translucent colours in the first two!

Last one works best for me, but you have captured the lights well in 1 & 2. Nice sweeping lines in #1 as well
