Glam Shots
Yeah, I'm being obnoxious. I've known since the end of last summer that the air conditioner had to be replaced. The evaporator coils had frozen up solid, and we spent the last portion of the season letting the ice melt into a tub and emptying it daily. Mike stayed home Thursday to get an estimate. He called me at work to get "approval" (hey, we could replace just the coils, but that means the rest of it would pack it in on the hottest day of the year), asking what I thought about the quote. I told him that I thought I would try for the glamor shots, instead of hiring a pro.
I couldn't quite get the "radioactive melted Crayolas" effect I was going for.

Now I'm curious... how hot are your hot days of summer exactly that a country mostly covered in snow and ice would need air con? :)

Glad to make people laugh. I certainly was hoping to. And no, asnow, we don't need air conditioning yet. But if I tried to time it? It'd pack it in when the temperatures hit 105, with the forecast saying it was staying that way for the next 3 weeks, and the repair folks booked solid for a month. When the credit card bill comes in, I will observe a solemn moment of silence, then try to sit after I've paid it.

Ah of course... you are in the USA where some places do indeed air con. I was thinking.... "What the hell would a Canadian need with air con? Something to climb on to get to their roof?" :)

I live north of Montreal - the winters can be bitterly cold but summer temperatures can be stiflingly hot and humid. From -20 C or colder in the winter to well above 30 C in the peak of summer... central heating is a must and air conditioning makes it comfortable when summer hits...

@ Mad Aussie. We only live in igloos for part of the year. ;) During the summer, it is not unheard of to have near 40 C temperatures. My apartment is in a brick building which faces west. So the bricks heat up and the apartment gets very hot. I only have the air conditioning for the comfort of the birds mind you. :rolleyes:
