final resting place

this old truck sits quietly rusting away in a field... i always wonder, when i see vehicles like this - did someone drive it there and deliberately leave it to rust, or did they park it, intending to use it again, and simply never came back?

if it's like here they drove it to the field and left it. which is fine, I guess if they drain out the fluids, but I doubt it.
