I am not sure about the processing. It looks drab to me and she looks sad. Maybe it was the lookin you were going for. The hair in her left eye is a bit of a distraction.
I do like how you threw the background out of focus and the composition works for me.
The overall composition works for me. The eyes are what make this shot. Sharp and beautiful. What a beautiful model (I know she's your daughter) you have there iggy!!!!!
The expression is nice, not sad to me. The hair in the eyes, in this case is not a distraction for me as it seems natural for a girl of her age.
In terms of what could be better, first and foremost the face could be 10-15% brighter on my laptop (so take it with a grain of salt as it's uncalibrated).
You also cut through her arm which is a distraction. There seems to be a blue cast here and I might try to tone that down a bit.
For really nitty gritty - the vertical tree behind her head is also a distraction. I might also crop into the tree at left as it acts as a 'bookend' and better keeps your eye in the frame.
Hope that helps - Marko
First thing my eye caught was the "dube"..hmm..I'm full of that today though. But something to look at next time you shoot! Wouldn't want a bad word in there ;) And that is all I can add as, well, it's been nicely critiqued.
On a side note, I believe I saw another image of this young lady and it stuck me very much.
This one fell off my radar - and D'oh! - Thanks for the wonderful feedback. I'll keep it in mind next time. I'm sure you'll get a chance to see more of my daughter as she doesn't seem to mind me shooting her as much lately. I think she likes using the photos for Facebook :)
