This is Priddy Pond, a large naturally formed pond in the Mendip Hills in Somerset. The pond was frozen over and while out we had a snow shower which settled on the ice.

Excellent shot, Taffy. I like the snow speckled pond, it looks really interesting. Nice foreground inclusion on the landscape to and what an interesting tree in the upper right corner. Looks like it would make a really interesting subject all by itself.
Hey, I definitely agree that the tree in the background looks very cool! But I find that my eyes keep jumping from the bright patch of grass on the left to that tree in the background, some leading lines towards the tree would've made it more pleasing, IMHO.
I like it. Might work better with a very subtle hint of colour or even an overall blue cast to bring out the cold.
Thanks for the comments.
Iggy - I have posted a photograph of this tree taken from the other side of the hill which I have posted on here previously. I think it is the most photographed tree in the Mendips!

I find the right side of the photo much stronger than the left side.
For me the focal point is the tree at top right but i find the bright grasses at left are totally stealing the show here. Ma's blue-toning idea might work here as well as tone down the grassy brightness. Hope that helps - Marko
great B/W conversion! good black levels.
Thanks for the comments.
Have re-worked the black & white version and burned in the bright grass to darken it down.
I also tried the blue tint that was suggested. I have not done this before.

I really like the reworks here! well done. The blue is neat.
The edits look good. The blue is about as blue as you'd want to go ... I think more subtle is usually better.
