The Flower from Hell

I like this photo, what do you think could be done to improve it?

Hey Klas,

That's pretty interesting! In terms of how to improve here's what I'd do...though it's already quite good!

- Clone out the bottom left corner
- brighten and sharpen (a wee bit) the center of the flower.
- There's a diagonal line just above the flower that looks like a failed clone. I'd fix it.
- Slap a border on the sucker.

Too funny I just uploaded a pic of mine that looked somewhat similar.

Agree with Marko; I also wonder if this might not be interesting as a high-contrast B&W?

Thank you Marko and Tirediron! I did what you said:

• Bottom left corner melted down a little
• Brighten and sharpen the flower a little
• diagonal line blurred
• No border, but burned in the cornes a little
• Black and white

I like this black and white version as well (still needs work to control brighter areas) but I think I preferred the colour one.

Agree. Having seen the mono conversion, the image really doesn't suit it, and a high contrast version just plain wouldn't work. Good thing digital prints don't take long to dry! ;)

In the B/W, the background colors ain't there, which makes it boring and flat.

I would recommend working on the color one instead. If you have a copy of Photoshop (or similar), try to mask out the flower and play with the levels, hue/saturation, curves and so on, on the flower. An easier way is to use dodge and burn.
