Self Portrait
So, seeing as how I spend so much time behind the camera, I thought I would try my hand at being infront of it as well... What do you think? I know I cut my head a little too tight on the top (IMO), but it sure was harder than I thought it was going to be to take a pic of myself :)

looks good to me.... i don't mind the head cutoff....
i can't see the exif but must be pretty wide open... only one eye in focus...
focusing a self portrait is tough..

Very good first attempt, one eye is out of focus and your body position looks off somewhat. The head cut off doesn't seem to work either. I think you have a good grasp at doing a self portrait, I just think you might want to try a few others.

Agree with the above; also appears to have a slight green cast.

Thanks; I probably will stay behind the camera, but it was fun to try... LOL! The green cast, I'm not sure but I can't really see it... where do you think it would have been comming from? I shot at a wide apeture, yes, can't remember exactly, but I was using my 50mm 1.8 to see if there was any sort of distortion on a crop sensor for portraits... I think the Apeture was 2 stops smaller maybe.. thats what I normally aim for anyway, will take that into consideration. I shot beside my north facing window without flash... also, the pose probably looks off because I was holding a white reflector on my right side to put the light back up into my face... LOL! What a time I had let me tell you! So, with all that said, where would the green cast have come from do you think? How would I correct that in future shots? (not of myself mind you.... LOL!)

Considering it's a self portrait, and what you were doing in terms of posing, holding stuff, taking the shot etc - I think it's a pretty amazing shot! Great job. I think perhaps you seem leaning over quite a lot, and therefore the body position seems less natural, but that's being nit-picky.
I also like the colours, like the framing, and how your hair frames your face. Lovely shot.

I think the potential it there with a few minor tweaks she should be very good at it. we just wanted to give her a few minor pointers to help with her next shot. I have yet to do a self portrait, so I admire anyone who does and as capable as she was at her first attempt.
