From a walk in the trees
Hey all,
What do you think of this? Or rather what did I miss here;)
BTW, where do you focus when you take such shots? I am really getting :confused: when it comes to deciding where to focus:o as I have no particular subject to focus on.
I wish I had a subject walking into the trees....
cheers,

Funny, I wouldn't have thought of trees like these in Ethiopia. I have to get out more. Focus point will depend on what you want to get across to the viewer. In this shot I will assume you meant the entire view. Old-school generalized the focus point for landscapes as being 1/3 into the scene. That's not quite accurate but a good point to start. The following link and others on Hyperfocal Distance will be a big help.
Hyperfocal Distance

Thanks Andrew. Yeah, depending on which corner you go to there is bit of everything in Ethiopia. I guess my photography is not doing justice to this country
Thanks for the link and I remember Marko has also done on that subject. I have to go back to it I guess.

I rather like that picture, although the blown out highlights in the middle are a little bit distracting. Your instincts are good though, I think it needs a subject walking down the path.

As Thoughton said I'd have cloned out some of those very bright blow outs in the trees.
Looks like a tough shot with the heavy shadow on one side and bright light on the other.
I think I'd have included more path as well if possible. It's about the path through the trees so I think more would have been better.
What Andrew said is good advice. We expect to see things clearly up front and gradually get harder to focus on as we look into distance.

Thanks a lot thoughton & MA!
