some selective color

Normally I find this technique cheesy. I don't know what came over me. But I kind of like the result.

How about the composition? Is the mug too far north?

I very much like the treatment here and the selective colour works for me here. I also like the composition. The only thing I might do (not absolutely sure) is pump up the contrast in the b/w part of the photo. Well done.

I also find the selective colour thing something that either appeals to me or it doesn't. Guess I'm selective on selective colour!

In this case I seriously like it very much. Nice work.

And I think the mug is fine where it is. It's right on a power point in the Rule of Thirds.

I know this photo isn't much, but it actually represents a small milestone in my pursuit to improve at photography. I feel like I finally understand negative space, and it's importance in most photographs, regardless of how small it is. It's almost as if it gives the eye a place to rest, away from the subject. In this case, I see the negative space as the SW corner, in the space off the counter.

The cabinet shelf distracts me. It created an interesting line but there was too much chaos below with the drawers and such. It is good otherwise.
