I love it... it conveys a mood, to be sure. A mood of quiet solitude as nature, frozen in the icy grip of winter, sits and waits for the warmth of spring to free the colour that hides within.

Since it's in the critique section, I'll throw in a comment (not a critique). I'm having trouble finding the subject of this image. It's one I struggle with a lot in taking my own shots... you want to display the whole scene and the scene is very interesting but for some reason there has to be a "subject" for it to be a good photo... at least that's what I'm told :confused:

Consider this one nominated. Nuff said

I like the textures and can see why it caught your attention but this one doesn't do much for me I'm afraid. It's a bit messy I think and, as Iggy up there pointed out, no specific subject. If it was all leaves and no sticks then it might work for me.
I'm thinking a lower angle and shot across the leaves with only one or two in focus and more bokeh would have been better. But that's just me. http://www.mtbdirt.com.au/home/smf/S...c/searchme.gif

Here are some things to consider:

A great photograph is one that fully expresses what one feels, in the deepest sense, about what is being photographed.

A photograph is usually looked at - seldom looked into.

A true photograph need not be explained, nor can it be contained in words.

Photography is more than a medium for factual communication of ideas. It is a creative art.

There are no rules for good photographs, there are only good photographs.


I suppose I should have mentioned up front that these are quotes from a fellow by the name of Ansel Adams. Maybe you’ve heard of him?

Thanks everyone for your views on this one ! Thats one of the things I find
so fascinating about photography it is so subjective.

LOVE it!

Overall this is a lovely shot and I adore the soft muted tones. I find the branches in the left part of the image distracting though. They lead your eye out of the photo.
